Frequently asked
questions
You use your health insurance to pay for Miga. We’re covered by Medicare, Sana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Humana in certain states, and we’ll be adding more payors in 2023. You can also use your insurance for lab tests and medications that might be part of your personalized heart health plan.
Please note that you’re responsible for any copay or coinsurance, just as you would be for an in-person doctor visit.
We’re covered by Medicare, Sana, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Humana in certain states, and cost-sharing works the same as when you see a doctor in person. For most people on Medicare, our entire program only costs $20 to $50 a month, including our app and devices (blood pressure monitor, scale). For those with Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap), our program can be as low as $0 a month. Most people on Sana can also access Miga for $0 a month.
You may use your insurance to cover any medications or labs, and there are no additional fees beyond your normal cost-sharing. There are no annual fees or monthly subscriptions. You can also cancel the program at any time.

This is heart health the way it should be.
The conditions we treat — obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol — are closely tied to heart health. We take a proactive and comprehensive approach to managing and preventing these conditions because that’s how you get a healthy heart — and a healthy heart is the key to living longer.
No. We provide best-in-class care for obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol, but we don’t provide the full spectrum of services of a primary care provider. We’re here to complement your current doctor, not to replace them. When you enroll with Miga, we’ll communicate with your primary care provider to coordinate your overall care. Please note that you are not required to have a primary care provider to enroll with Miga.
Depending on your personalized plan, we may prescribe medication in combination with lifestyle support. Some of the medications we prescribe include GLP-1 agonists, antihypertensives, metformin, and statins. Most of the medications available through our program are generic, but we provide insurance navigation for medications that require prior authorization. We cannot guarantee insurance coverage of medications, but we will work with you to understand your options.
For the best results, our personalized weight loss plans also include ongoing data monitoring, simple daily actions plans, and expert diet and lifestyle support. It is not a requirement to take medication in order to work with Miga.
When appropriate, we prescribe GLP-1 medications including semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic, Rybelsus) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro) that are important for the effective management of obesity and diabetes. We prescribe them in combination with expert diet and lifestyle support.
Depending on your personalized heart health plan, we may also prescribe other medications for obesity. We cannot guarantee insurance coverage of medications, but we will work with you to understand your options.
Yes. If you enroll in our at-home monitoring program for high blood pressure and/or obesity, a validated blood pressure monitor and scale are included. These devices are automatically synced with the Miga app, so they don’t need to be paired via Bluetooth. Plus, the data is automatically shared with your Miga care team, who check your readings daily and alert you if anything is wrong.
Yes. In order to determine which medications are best for you and create your personalized heart health plan, we require that you complete lab work or share recent results with your Miga care team. You can submit recent results through the intake process or get your lab work done at any Quest Diagnostics location.
